A Project Controls Framework consists of cost, schedule, earned value and scope control protocols to enable strong project governance; reports, metrics and risk dashboards that present consolidated information to project decision-makers for prompt review and action. We work with our clients to implement a set of control processes and systems that will address specifically their needs and enable them to see, understand, and identify the threats and opportunities in their construction projects for further action. At its core, any such framework consists of two elements that have to be executed properly. Those elements are data flows and work flows.

Critical data is identified using a combination of our knowledge of your organization, project(s) and strategic priorities as well as our expertise in the Project Controls and construction services areas. Once the desired data is defined, we set up the processes by which that data will be collected and validated.
Having obtained accurate data, we move on to correlation and presentation. Again, using your organization's structure and priorities, we set up data flows and identify collection points that make sure the right people see information that accurately and relevantly describes your project in terms of schedule, budget, and scope. Reports are organized in order to highlight exceptions, with an emphasis on helping decision-makers identify both obstacles and opportunities. The combination of synchronized data reporting and highlighted exceptions drives the control workflow.
The data flows put information that can be act on in front of your organization's decision-makers. The workflows define guidelines how that information will be acted on and how decisions will be reflected in project execution. Workflows are data-triggered procedures that aim to establish accountability and guidance in order to augment project governance. We work with you to define the most effective actions your organization should take based on project variance, and the circumstances that will require you to develop detailed action plans. Some of that will be informed by your priorities, and some of it will be informed by our industry and project knowledge.
Our Project Controls workflows are prescriptive, comprehensive, and streamlined. Prescriptive means they tell the person executing them what to do. Comprehensive means that they cover most possible contingencies. Streamlined means that the actions prescribed are the most efficient way to address the situation presented by the data. Efficiency, however, is a function of your strategic values. For some organizations, speed will be paramount.
